I've recently inherited a modest estate from my father and although I plan to spread this capital over a few different activities I'd also like to invest in 2-3 small businesses which require a silent partner. I'm willing to do this as I am willing to tolerate a level of risk in the hope of gaining a better return on this part of the portfolio. To give a rough idea, I can invest about $300,000 total but I'd like to disperse this between more than one small business to spread the risk.
