About Messages
Find Angel Investors.com.au has an online private messaging system which allows messages to be sent between users and stored on the server. Contact and Full membership users may send and receive messages. Users with new messages are notified by E-Mail.
Reading Messages:
- Log in to your Contact or Full membership account.
- Click on the "Messages" link in the top menu of the site.
- Click on the Subject of the message to read it in full.
- Reply to or Delete the message using the buttons on the message view.
Sending Messages:
Messages can be sent to users with listings using the "Send this user a message" link on their profile, accessible on the listing page. Messages are sent in plain text.
- Log in to your Contact or Full membership account.
- Go to the listing you'd like to contact the owner of (ensure you've clicked the title of the listing and are in the full listing view)
- Click the "View user profile" link on the right hand side of the page
- Click the "Send this user a message link"
- Type in your subject line and message content
- Click the "Send Message" button at the bottom of the form and you're done. Your message will now be in that user's inbox and an E-Mail notification will be sent alerting them to a new message.
Changing Your Account Details
You may change your username, E-Mail address or password at any time.
To change your username:
- Log in to your account
- Click the "My Account" link in the top menu of the site or click "Edit" next to your username in the white box below your browser address bar.
- Click on the "Edit" tab if it is not already shown
- Type a new username into the "Username" field at the top of the page (replacing the existing one).
- Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page
Changing your E-Mail address:
The E-Mail address associated with your account will receive all E-Mails regarding your user account and any notifications to be sent to it. It will also be the address you will use if you ever need to recover a lost password.
- Log in to your account
- Click the "My Account" link in the top menu of the site or click "Edit" next to your username in the white box below your browser address bar.
- Click on the "Edit" tab if it is not already shown
- Type a new E-Mail address into the "E-Mail address" field (replacing the existing one).
- Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page
Changing your password:
- Log in to your account
- Click the "My Account" link in the top menu of the site or click "Edit" next to your username in the white box below your browser address bar.
- Click on the "Edit" tab if it is not already shown
- Type a new password into the "Password" field on the "Edit Account" page (feedback will be given on how strong (easy to guess) the entered password is. This is informative only and you can still use any password you like.
- Type the same password into the "Confirm password" field below it<.li>
- Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page
Notifications
One of the most excellent tools available with an upgraded membership is the notifications system. You can create custom e-mail notifications when listing meeting your chosen criteria are published.
Currently you can create your own notification settings for Businesses, Investors and Industry Tags
Requirements for setting up notifications:
- A free user account upgraded to Contact or Full Membership
- An e-mail address you check regularly as the the primary e-mail for you user account
Setting up notifications
Once you're logged in with your upgraded account you will see check boxes at the bottom of each listing allowing you to immediately set up a notification for the current post type or tags applied to it. There is also an interface for managing existing notifications and creating new ones on your My Account page.
There's two methods of setting up notifications:
As you browse:
- Using the checkbox form on the bottom of any listing (full view) of the desired type or category to immediately start receiving notifications of new content of that type or category.
On your My Account page:
A more detailed user interface is available via your My Account page which allows you to create new notifications of any type, view your existing setup and cancel one or all of your notifications.
- Click the "My Account" link in the top menu of the site
- Click the "Notifications" tab on your My Account page
- To create a new Type or Tag notification click on the create new links towards the bottom of the page
- Select the appropriate check box for content types or start typing a category name into the category input field - it will automatically search the database and present you with a list of options to choose from.
- Click the submit button and you will now receive e-mails notifying you of new posts that meet your criteria

Changing Your Notification Settings
These functions are all available on the My Account page under the "Notifications" tab.
To change the interval for all notifications:
- Click "My Account" in the top menu of the site
- Click the edit tab on your "My Account" page
- Use the list box at the bottom of the page to choose an interval (Hour, Day, Week etc)
- Click submit
Cancelling a notification:
- Click "My Account" in the top menu of the site
- Click the "Notifications" tab on your "My Account" page
- Click "Administer your subscriptions" (Please note this is not the same as your membership subscription, this refers to subscriptions to content notifications)
- Check the box next to the notification/s you'd like to change
- Select an action from the "Update Options" dropdown box above the notification listings (Delete to Delete, Deactivate to retain the notification in your account but stop receiving E-Mails for it
- Click the "Update" button next to the "Update Options" drop down box.
Cancelling all notifications:
- Click "My Account" in the top menu of the site
- Click the "Notifications" tab at the top of your "My Account" page
- Click the "Cancel all your subscriptions" link on the "Notifications" over page (Please not that this will not cancel you PayPal subscription to the site, just your notification E-Mails)
- Confirm that you'd like to do so
- You can return to the "Notifications" tab of your "My Account" page and click "Administer my subscriptions" to verify the status of your notifications has changed.
